‘Habanero’ is the generic name given to chillies belonging to the species Capsicum chinense. The term ‘Scotch Bonnet’ is also used to refer to habanero chillies, but generally those that produce large, irregular shaped fruit that are wider in the middle.

Habaneros have a distinctive, fruity flavour and are renown for being very spicy. However, they can be mild, and the chillies sold by Sea Spring Seeds range in heat level from almost heatless to extreme heat.
