Description

Brassica oleracea Capitata Group

Hybrid. This summer/autumn cabbage is a useful variety that has proven its worth year after year. The round, solid heads can stand for about 3 to 4 weeks in the garden, giving a fairly wide harvest window before they split. They are both crisp and sweet, and can be eaten fresh in mixed salads and coleslaw. Thinly sliced, salted and fermented, they also make an excellent sauerkraut for winter use.

Sow the seeds from March to May for harvesting from early summer to late autumn. For small heads, leave 35cm between plants each way, or for larger heads, allow 45cm between plants.
