Approximate heat level: 10,000 SHU
A striking variety whose fruit dramatically grow upright in bunches at the top of the plant. The medium heat fruit turn from yellow to red as they mature, and measure 13 x 100mm in size. The plants are short and compact, growing only 38cm wide and 36cm tall. When grown in 13cm pots, they tend to fall over because of the weight of the fruit at the top of the plant, so we recommend using pots at least 19cm in diameter.
This chilli is named after our friend David Floyd, who uses the ‘Hot Juan’ moniker as his alias. David started the Chilli Foundry website (www.chilefoundry.co.uk) years ago and has written two books on chillies – the more recent, 101 Chillies to Try Before You Die, was published in 2016.
