EXTREME HEAT
Dorset Naga is one of the hottest chillies in the world, capable of reaching a million Scoville Heat Units and more. The scorching heat of the fruit is combined with a distinctive fruity aroma, making this a truly exceptional chilli. The wrinkled, wedge-shaped fruit ripen from green to red, the heat level also increases as the fruit ripen.
At the moment we are sending out a mix of green and red fruit. If you prefer to have ONLY green or ONLY red fruit please put it in the comment section when making your order.
The fruit can be up to 30 x 50mm in size, but are often smaller. A kilo of Dorset Naga is about 170 to 220 fruit.
Heat level: It is natural for the heat level of chillies to vary between fruit, between plants and between seasons depending on growing conditions. We have our Dorset Naga fruit heat tested most years, getting a crop average heat by taking one fruit from every plant. Results range between 800,000 to 1,221,000 SHU. BBC Gardeners’ World did a chilli trial where they had a single Dorset Naga fruit that measured 1.6 million SHU.
