Enviromesh

Description

Enviromesh is a woven mesh that protects outdoor vegetable crops from a wide range of pests by providing an effective physical barrier. It also provides some protection from bad weather such as strong winds and frosts.

No support is necessary, the environment sheet can just be lain over the crop and secured with pegs or stones. Enviromesh is very strong and given reasonable care will lasts for 10 years or more.

Insects:

• Cabbage root fly
• Carrot fly
• Pea moth
• Cabbage white butterfly
• Leaf miners
• Many species of aphids, but not all
• Flea beetle is discouraged but not controlled completely.

Other pests:

• Pigeons
• Rabbits
• Domestic pets
• Snails
• Deers

Bad weather:

• High winds
• Heavy rain
• Hail
• Frost

The net is laid flat over the bed with plenty of slack to allow the crop to grow. It must be pegged down securely as any gaps will allow the pests in.

Note: Enviromesh also keeps the pollinating insects out, so any crop that needs insects for pollination should be uncovered when they reach the flowering stage.
