Brassica oleracea Acephala Group
A strikingly red curly kale that wouldn’t look out place in an ornamental border. In addition to its colour, the variety is characterised by frilly-edged leaves reminiscent of the parsley used for garnishing. But don’t think that this kale is only about good looks – it is tasty enough to shine with just a simple dressing of butter, salt and pepper.
Cooks, please note: most of the bright red colour is lost when the leaves are cooked, which is disappointing but not a deal breaker.
