Solanum lycopersicum

Nova was originally released by the New York Agricultural Experiment Station in the late 1970s. It is a cooking tomato with elongated, bulbous-shaped fruit that come to a pin-sharp point. The dry, pasty flesh is ideal for making into sauces, but is unsuitable for eating raw. If the weather is warm and sunny plants can yield fairly well outdoors in southern England. For a more reliable crop, however, they are better grown in a tunnel or greenhouse. The plants have a bushy, somewhat sprawling growth habit and grow well in large pots.
