An eye-catching aubergine that produces good yields of plumb, mostly oval fruit. They are quite small – they should be harvested when about 35mm in diameter – and have a tender skin. However, what really stands out is their colour; unusual for an aubergine, the fruit are attractively blotched in various shades of green.
The plants are short and bushy, and grow brilliantly in pots at least 7.5 litres in volume.
Please note: Though similar in appearance, Emerald Isle is not the crisp-textured ‘apple’-type aubergine often eaten raw in Thai cuisine. Rather, despite its colour and size, this variety is a ‘standard’ aubergine, with the same flavour and soft, spongy flesh characteristic of the large purple aubergine fruit.
