Description
Solanum melongena
This short-statured aubergine produces attractive, roundish, purple and white striped fruit that taste like a standard aubergine. The fruit are small – so no wastage when cooking – and are best harvested when about 50 to 55cm in diameter.
The almost spineless plants grow into a tidy, small bush, reaching a height of about 40cm. This means they are perfect for container growing or for small greenhouses. Despite their small-stature plants will need some support to ensure they stay upright.
