Hybrid. A vigorous, smooth-skinned beetroot with roundish roots of a deep red colour. It is listed as a ‘Best Buy’ by Which? Gardening magazine, and was first given an Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society back in 1993. Age is no deterrence to performance: it can still hold its own against newer varieties and has developed a reputation as a fierce competitor on the show bench.
