Description

Capsicum chinense

A standard habanero chilli popular in the fresh vegetable trade. The fruit are extremely hot and mature from yellowish green to red.  They are about 30mm wide and 40mm long, and have deep grooves that run along their length. The fruit shape of Red Habanero is flexible, and generally varies between blocky and cone.

Producing a good crop of fruit is made simple by the easily-managed plants – they are medium tall bushes that do well both in the ground and 10 litre pots.

The heat and flavour of Red Habanero work synergistically to bring authenticity to both Caribbean and West African cooking. Fresh fruit can also be used to make a top notch tomato ketchup as well as a first rate sweet chilli sauce.

Red Habanero is sometimes called a Scotch Bonnet.
