Description
Capsicum annuum
A cayenne chilli whose fantastically long fruit often grow to 25cm or more. They ripen from green to red and are medium hot at maturity. Both red and green fruit can be used fresh in the kitchen (think pizza toppings, curries and salsa), while red fruit can be dried and either stored whole, ground to a powder or strung together to make ristras.
The plants are tall and upright, and need strong support so that they won’t fall over. Grow them in the ground or in large pots 7.5 to 15 litres in volume.
