Description

Capsicum annuum

Found in a London allotment, Apple Crisp is like no other chilli we sell. The nearly round fruit measure about 4.5cm in diameter and ripen from pale green to orange and finally red. They are very mild, and their flesh is sweet and exceptionally thick. But what makes this chilli stand out is its texture – bite into it like an apple and you encounter a crunchy, juicy flesh surrounded by a skin that is so tender you hardly notice it’s there.

The tall, shrubby plants can be grown in the ground or large pots about 10 litres in size. They are quite unruly, and both the main stems and long branches will need support.

Heat level: very mild (400 SHU)
