Rocky Road produces fruit that are oval and quite small for a rocoto chilli, averaging about 27 x 38mm. The flesh is very thick (4.4mm), noticeably reducing the size of the seed cavity.

Fruit mature from green to red and are very hot. They are abundantly produced on plants that develop into easily-managed spreading shrubs suitable for pots 7.5 to 10 litres in volume.

Heat level: very hot

Approximate number of seeds per pack: 15

They also tend to be large, open branched plants. The black seeds, particularly, make C. pubescens varieties stand out as being different to other pepper plants. The common name for all C. pubescens chillies is “rocoto” chillies.
