The red-tinged version of a popular tropical spinach.
Shiny, heart-shaped leaves are produced on vigorous vines that need to be trained up strings or canes. Given their tropical origin, the plants should be grown during the summer inside a tunnel or green house. To harvest, nip off the tips of the main stems and side shoots. Alternatively, pick individual leaves as they reach full size, allowing more to come on as the vines continue to grow.
Also known by the names of Poi Saag and Ceylon Spinach.
