Ocimum minimum
A basil with a difference, Bush Basil produces short, tidy, pompom-shaped plants that are about 25cm tall and 20 cm wide. The leaves are small and taste strongly of cloves, much like the classic sweet basil allied with Italian cooking.
The plants do better undercover, and their reduced size and attractive shape makes them ideal for a sunny windowsill or mini structures like cloches, cold frames and plastic greenhouses.
Growing tip: try growing 3 or 4 plants in pots 13 to 15cm in diameter – they fill out the pot like a pompoms that look quite impressive.
