A heritage maincrop onion producing big, mild bulbs that are superb in salads.

Description

Allium cepa

A well-known heritage variety that is as useful in the kitchen as it is delicious. Crops can be sown throughout the spring and early summer and harvested with their green tops as salad onions. Alternatively, early sowings can be used to produce a main crop of mature bulbs that can be stored at least until the new year. The mature bulbs are large, sweet and mild-tasting, making them ideal for cooking and using raw in salads.
