Marian
£1.50
A culinary favourite that is the ideal root vegetable in the dead of winter.
Description
Brassica napus Napobrassica Group
Swedes are one of the UK’s standard winter vegetables, and Marian is one of the standard swede varieties. It was originally bred decades ago for livestock feed, though it has since become a culinary favourite for winter cooking. The skin is purple on the top of the root, and the flavour of the light yellow flesh is dependably good.
Yields can be high, and the variety has some resistance to both club root and powdery mildew.
