Northern Extra Sweet

Hybrid. Northern Extra Sweet is a delicious, ‘super sweet’ variety that produces bright golden cobs early in the season. The plants grow a bit shorter than Earlibird and Goldcress, and the uniformity of the cobs is not quite up to supermarket standards – so not good for the show bench. But the flavour and tenderness of the cobs, which is superb, and the earliness of the plants more than makes up for that.

Because of its earliness Northern Extra Sweet is suitable for areas with a short growing season, or for use in a sequential planting scheme for a planned extended harvest period of sweet corn.
