Description
Capsicum annuum
A Czech sweet pepper that produces a remarkable number of cone-shaped, nice-sized fruit averaging about 6cm wide and 12cm long. The colour changes from pastel yellow to orange then red as the fruit mature. The flesh is substantial and measures about 6mm thick – an astonishing trait adding greatly to the fruit’s culinary value. Given Amy’s Eastern European origin, the taste of the unripe fruit is milder than that of the blocky (bell) peppers popular in the UK.
The bushy plants are a manageable 50cm tall and 70cm wide, and perform well in pots as small as 7.5 litres in volume.
