Sea Spring Seeds Trial
Six plants were grown in a Sea Spring Seeds trial in 2021, giving an average yield of 3.8 fruit per plant. In comparison, the Royal Horticultural Society conducted a winter squash trial from 2010 to 2011, when their average yield for Kabocha Large Fruited was 6.4 fruit per plant.

More information
• Fruit should be harvested when they are mature, sometime in the autumn. Fortunately, maturity of Kabocha Large Fruited is easily determined: the thick green stems of the fruit turn dry, brown and corky.

• Fruit should be brought undercover before the first frost.

• Harvest with secateurs, leaving about 2 to 3cm of stem on the fruit.
